Unfortunately their laudable modesty can often lead to the unduly unassuming apple being unfairly underestimated or misunderstood.
At Cawston Vale, we passionately believe apples are the ‘real deal.’ As quintessentially English as marmalade, grass stains in Summer, Doctor Who, crabbing in rock pools and rubbing linseed into willow.
In a world where good eating and drinking is thankfully back in vogue, we feel a deep-seated responsibility to champion the often under-appreciated apple against the pushy, over-bearing orange and a feisty new generation of fancy fruits, including blueberries, pomegranates and alluring açai.
Remember
‘In many cultures the humble apple was considered the most mystical of all fruit. Over the centuries they have come to be associated with many things: immortality (Avalon – The apple isle), fruitfulness, offerings or distractions in suitor contests, cures, love charms, tests of chastity, a means of fortune telling, an all-round magical object.’

Indeed, without wishing to tarnish the hard earnt reputations of others, where exactly would the likes of King Arthur, Aphrodite, Hercules, Isaac Newton, Pomona, & William Tell be now without the indispensable intervention of the unassuming apple?
